At the first rally of the year, students were introduced to Analy's new Houses system. Just this week, Analy students and staff were sorted into their Houses (Ignis, Laguz, Terra, or Aether) and met as a group for the first time to play games, get to know each other, and workshop their chants. Throughout the year, students and staff will be given opportunities to build camaraderie with House-mates as well as engage in activities throughout the year to earn points for their House.
This year, Analy also launched Link Crew, an orientation program where 11th and 12th graders welcome new 9th graders to campus. In addition to Orientation, Link Crew will provide 9th graders with mentorship and guidance throughout the year.
At Laguna High School, advisories play a vital role in connecting students to meaningful learning experiences. This fall, advisories are taking on a range of projects that highlight creativity, collaboration, and community engagement. Projects include revitalizing the quad with drought-resistant trees, learning new skills through crochet, exploring design and innovation, and analyzing literature, film, and media by comparing original movies to their remakes.
In addition, students have begun researching and reaching out to potential internship sites, strengthening the school’s commitment to real-world learning and future readiness.
The Academy of Innovative Arts welcomed its historic inaugural class. They've already begun to tinker and gain new skills in the MakerSpace. In their first few weeks, students have been building routines, making connections, and co-creating their school culture.
Additionally, AIA welcomed its first guest speaker, renowned maker educator, Hillel Posner. Hillel spoke to students about craftsmanship, creativity, and turning passions into purpose.
As summer wrapped up, AIA partnered with Dale Dougherty and his outstanding team of makers to host a free maker camp for 52 local middle schoolers who learned glassblowing, blacksmithing, and more!
