WHAT'S UP WEST COUNTY- SPRING 2026

A lush meadow with yellow wildflowers in focus in the foreground

The fourth quarter has begun, and we are in the home stretch of the 2025-2026 school year! While students are wrapping up their coursework, staff are preparing for 2026-2027 and beyond. The first meeting of the Cell Phone Policy Committee took place earlier this month (summary of that discussion can be found under "Recent News" below). The group will meet again in April to continue working toward an implementation plan for a device-free school day, which will roll out next academic year. The District has also engaged the community in developing our strategic plan to address inequities and provide meaningful learning experiences for all students. We are proud of the strides we have made and are looking forward to continued growth in the future!

Sincerely,
District Administration

CELEBRATIONS

Academy of Innovative Arts

Over the past few months, AIA students have left campus to extend the concepts they learned in the classroom, like fermentation at Bagel Mill, finance at BNY Wealth Management, and science at the Exploratorium. In addition to their academic excursions, Academy students also visited local middle schools to do a maker pop-up as a way to recruit next year's ninth graders!

The end of the school year means final projects are well underway. Academy students are putting all the skills they've acquired this year into developing complex and creative representations of their learning. Some projects include: a yearbook, a musical, and aquaponics.

Analy High School

In March, dozens of students and volunteers gathered in the gym to participate in Redwood Credit Union's Bite of Reality. This interactive workshop allows students to experience financial responsibility and well-being.

Analy's Houses have been racking up points all year by showing their school spirit, attending events, and participating in activities across campus. This week, the competition comes to a head with the very first Analy House Olympics! Students are signing up to compete in events like video games, tug-of-war, and corn hole. Which house will take home the gold?!

Laguna High School

Laguna High School has been recognized as a Model Continuation High School by the California Department of Education. This is an incredible accomplishment and a testament to the dedicated and passionate staff on campus.

As a result of the wrap-around services and supportive educators at the El Molino Campus, Laguna had 4 students graduate early at the end of the 3rd quarter, making a total of 11 early-graduates this year.
