Dear Families: 

Welcome back to Analy! There is a wonderful energy on campus this fall. Students have jumped into the new year with enthusiasm, classrooms are buzzing, and there is a noticeable sense of connection as we settle into our new routines. 

We have a lot to be excited about this year, including three significant changes that are already shaping the student experience: our new 9th-grade teams, our new career-technical education facilities, and our phone-free school day. ew paragraph block.

First, our new 9th-grade teams are off to an exciting start. Each team of students shares the same Biology, Math, and English teachers, along with a learning specialist. Those teachers meet every week to talk about their students, coordinate support, and identify students who may need a little extra help before small challenges become bigger ones.

The teams are also working with students on specific group-work strategies that build confidence, deepen thinking, and give teachers more opportunities to support students individually. We are excited about the more connected experience this is creating for our freshmen as they begin their Analy careers.

Second, our new Culinary & Hospitality, Agricultural Sciences, and Ag Manufacturing facilities are already transforming what learning looks like for students in those programs. These are beautiful, state-of-the-art spaces, but the best part is seeing our students in them. They are engaged, curious, hands-on, and taking real pride in their work and their new classrooms. 

We are excited to officially celebrate these new facilities with our community at a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting on Tuesday, September 29, from 6:00–8:00 PM. We'll have speakers, student-led tours, and food and drinks prepared by our Culinary & Hospitality students. We hope you'll join us!

The construction has also brought some important safety improvements to campus, including a new perimeter fence designed to direct visitors through the main office and a new gate system for the student parking lot.

Finally, our new phone-free school day is already making a noticeable difference on campus. There have definitely been some adjustments as we learn the new routines, but phones have become the rare exception rather than the rule.

What has been most striking is what has replaced them. Teachers are reporting stronger classroom engagement and more conversation, and students are spending their breaks and lunches talking with one another. A few comments from staff really capture what we are seeing:

I have especially enjoyed walking around campus during lunch and break and seeing students talking, laughing, and just being together. One staff member described it perfectly: “It feels so wholesome!”

The Commons app has been a heavier lift, and I want to recognize Jerod Brown and Nicole Wilkinson, along with Karin Taylor, Sandra Jones, Gina Macias, and Jannet Vigil in the office, for the tremendous amount of work they have put into helping students get the app installed and working correctly. The Commons team has also been great to work with and has made some adjustments to its communications that should help with compliance. 

We are also going to try a small adjustment to the implementation. After hearing from students we are going to try a later start time for the Commons app and see how it goes. 

More than ever, it’s imperative that students bring their charged, district-issued Chromebook to school with them each day. As a reminder, students should not be bringing their own laptops.

It is an exciting time at Analy. New teams, new spaces, new routines—and a campus that already feels noticeably more connected. Thank you to our students, staff, and families for the energy and commitment you have brought to the start of this school year. We are off and running, and I am looking forward to everything ahead.

We are looking forward to welcoming parents and guardians to campus on Thursday, September 17. We kick off the evening with a presentation in the Analy theater beginning at 5:30 PM with a band performance. Following the presentation, parents are invited to visit each of their student's classes, meet the teachers, and hear what your student will be learning about this year. 

We hope to see you there! 

The Physical Education Department is looking for donations of clipboards. We need new ones for our weight room/PE program to write the workouts on since we don't have desks. If you can help we would welcome them in the front office. Thank You!

The educational/jazz group, Dallas Brass, is visiting Analy to play a concert with the Analy and Hillcrest bands on the evening of 10/1 at 6pm. Tickets are $15 presale and $20 at the door and are available through a link on analybandwagon.org
